The Honourable Fabian stands as a dynamic and visionary leader, embodying the spirit of Gibraltar with unwavering dedication and passion. Born on February 18, 1972, in Gibraltar, he pursued his studies in Jurisprudence at Oriel College, Oxford, before embarking on a distinguished legal career at Hassans, the territory’s largest law firm, where he became a partner and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2014

In December 2011, Picardo was elected Chief Minister of Gibraltar, a position he has held through successive elections, demonstrating his commitment to the territory’s prosperity and autonomy. Under his leadership, Gibraltar has navigated complex international negotiations, including a landmark agreement with Spain and the European Union in 2025, which dismantled the border (“La Verja”) and enhanced cross-border cooperation, benefiting over 300,000 individuals

Beyond his political achievements, Picardo is a proud father of three and a devoted advocate for Gibraltar’s future. His leadership continues to inspire confidence and optimism, reflecting a steadfast commitment to Gibraltar’s values and aspirations.

The Chief Minister of Gibraltar

The Chief Minister of Gibraltar is the head of His Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar who is elected by the Gibraltar Parliament, and formally appointed by the Governor of Gibraltar, representative of the British Monarch. The incumbent Chief Minister is Fabian Picardo, since 9 December 2011, leader of the Gibraltar Socialist Labour Party.
