Hereford Cathedral
A majestic building which is well curated. Go and see the John Piper tapestries in the South Transept – wonderful and well known. The Mappa Mundi is a bit Disneyfied now – I remember it decades ago hanging simply in a glass cabinet lit by a single unshaded lightbulb! It’s value was only discovered after the outrageous attempts by a former Dean to sell it off quietly for Cathedral funds. Its safe return to Hereford was an indirect positive consequence of this well intentioned but misguided act. .
