Annalena Baerbock, born on December 15, 1980, in Hanover, Germany, is a distinguished diplomat and politician known for her unwavering commitment to international cooperation, human rights, and sustainable development. With a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in public international law from the London School of Economics, she has built a career that bridges legal expertise with political acumen.
In September 2025, Baerbock was elected President of the United Nations General Assembly for its 80th session, becoming only the fifth woman to hold this esteemed position. Her election, secured with 167 votes, underscores global recognition of her leadership and vision. As President, she has emphasized unity under the theme “Better Together,” advocating for collective action to address pressing global challenges such as armed conflicts, climate change, and inequality.
Prior to this role, Baerbock served as Germany’s Foreign Minister from 2021 to 2025, where she was instrumental in shaping the country’s foreign policy during pivotal moments, including the response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Her tenure was marked by a steadfast commitment to democratic values, multilateralism, and humanitarian principles. Baerbock’s leadership continues to inspire efforts toward a more just and peaceful world.
