Henie Onstad Art Center

Museum of Modern and contemporary art on Høvikodden peninsula, 15 minutes vest of Oslo. Henie Onstad Art Center is the result of a donation by art collectors Sonja Henie and Niels Onstad and opened in 1968. The Museum has changing exhibitions, and a permanent showcase of works from the Henie Onstad collection which consists of over 4000 pieces, including art by Picasso, Matisse, Beuys and Christo, as well as Norwegian artist Wiedemann. The art centre also owns the installation Hymn of Life by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. Additionally, you can see the collection of trophies that figure skater Sonja Henie amassed during her successful career. Guided tours are available all year round, and can be booked via e-mail. Henie Onstad art centre also has a cafe, library, museum shop and a sculpture park surrounding the museum.
