Heidelberg Castle is a ruin in Germany and landmark of Heidelberg. The castle ruins are among the most important Renaissance structures north of the Alps. Since the 19th century, Heidelberg has been the epitome of German romanticism for tourists from all over the world. The impressive ruin attracts about one million visitors a year. In the 16th and 17th centuries Heidelberg was one of the most magnificent castles in Europe.
