His tenure as High Commissioner to Bangladesh from 2020 to 2022 was particularly noteworthy for strengthening India-Bangladesh relations, a critical aspect of regional diplomacy. In September 2022, he assumed the role of India’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, becoming the first Indian envoy to present credentials to King Charles III. This milestone reflected the evolving dynamics of India-UK relations and Doraiswami’s pivotal role in shaping them.
On a personal level, Doraiswami is a man of varied interests and talents. He is fluent in multiple languages, including English, Hindi, Tamil, Chinese, French, and Korean, which underscores his adaptability and cultural sensitivity. His wife, Sangeeta Doraiswami, is a trained psychologist and primary school teacher, and together they have a son.
