Haimen Tianxian, Zhongzheng District, Keelung City, Taiwán

Ershawan Fortress, also known as Haimen Natural Fortress, is a national monument. It is located on the Ershawan Mountain in Zhongzheng Park. It is built on the traditional Chinese gate architecture and is built on mountains. The original fort located in the seaside of Ershawan was built around the Qing Dynasty (1840 AD), after which the fort was destroyed and the site was built by Liu Mingchuan after the Qing War (1885 AD), which is of great historical value.

Ershawan Fortress is a “forty-mountable fort” in the high ground forts. Unlike the general forts, the forts were built on the high-lying Linhai Mountain. The design of the fork was in the low-lying sea, and the shells of enemy ships at sea would only be met. Hit the side of the hill to the sea, or go over the hills and fall to the bottom, it is difficult to hit the camp area. In addition, it also forms an iron triangle defense network with the clubs and white rice cookers located at the Outer Seaport Gate, and defends Keelung’s inner and outer ports.
The existing buildings at Ershawan Fort, such as the gates of the city, the camp wall, the large ladders, the cannons, the sub-walls, and the ammunition depot, have their own characteristics; the gun bases and sub-walls are all constructed of iron-cement, and the other cannons are There are gates for imitation of ancient artillery, and because of their height and wide vision, visitors can look at the port from the gallery and realize the “natural danger of the sea gate”. The landscape is excellent. In addition, the forest trails in the area around the fort can be used as a good place for forest bathing. There are birds and insects in the meantime, and there is a vivid and natural beauty beyond the visits to the monuments.
