Grotte des Canalettes, Corneilla-de-Conflent, Languedoc-Roussillon, France

The Grotte des Grandes Canalettes is located 300 meters from the Medieval City of Villefranche de Conflent, on the road to Corneille de Conflent and Vernet Les Bains, in the Pyrenees-Orientales.

The discovery occurred in 1951, it was made by chance by Mr. Motte. The story begins in 1957 with the presentation of the Fuilla network to Mr. Henri Salvayre, hydrogeologist and specialist of the underground world. In 1978, he met Mr. Edmond Delonca, then driller of his condition. Together they undertake immeasurable work that only the passion of speleology can dictate: it is the beginning of a great friendship.

In 1981, they began exploration with Mr. Joseph Pujol, a former miner, and Mr. Henri Lozano, speleologist member of the GEK, which allows discovering the White Room in 1982. They then study the development of Grandes Canalettes, currently unique and made with the utmost respect for the underground world.
