Gorges de Diosso, Congo

The Diosso Gorge is 35 kilometers north of the city of Pointe – Noire, Congo – Kinshasa, Equatorial Africa. Popular tourist site, the Gorges of Diosso consist of large cliffs of ocher rock and a valley with a dense equatorial forest. These gorges offer a magnificent view of the Atlantic Ocean.

One of the most famous and beautiful sites of Congo, the Diosso Gorge was created by the erosion of the plateau which gave rise to great circuses. The vegetation is very dense, some of the circuses even look like small valleys and the very permeable sand reveals pink and ocher granitic rocks. Possibility to go down to the heart of the circuses.

However, the descent of the Gorges Diosso can be difficult if you are not used to this kind of descent. Otherwise, you can walk the gorges from the top of the cliff that borders them. Some children of the nearby villages propose to act as a guide by means of some pieces of money.
