Turkey’s longest cave, which is 10 Zonguldak Gökgöl Cave is the longest cave 2. The total length of the cave is 3350 meters and it lies on the Zonguldak – Ankara highway and is 3 km away from the city center. Transportation is very easy since the cave entrance is located right next to the highway.
The first researches in Gökgöl Cave were made by geologist Temuçin AYGEN in 1976 and British cave researchers Chris BAUER and Harvey LOMAS. In the process, the map of the cave was prepared and tourism was opened in 2001 as a result of the studies.
Gökgöl Cave, which has about 300,000 visitors since the day of the opening of the tourism, has the microklima feature due to the fact that the temperature and humidity do not change much during the year. For this reason, especially in the treatment of respiratory tract (asthma) patients are being used from the cave.
