Godrevy Heritage Coast, Hayle
Godrevy – Portreath Heritage Coast The Atlantic-battered North Cornish Coast is for most of us a classic sea coast. Cliffs, inlets, coves, stacks, reefs… a different face as the rock changes. Hartland, including its 11km section in Cornwall, is perhaps the wildest of all Heritage Coasts.
Godrevy’s awe-inspiring expanse of sandy beach leads on to wildlife rich headlands and the dramatic coves of the North Cliffs and Western Hill. Set at the far end of St Ives Bay, Godrevy beach is popular for surfers, families, walkers, nature watchers and those who simply want to sit and admire the view.
A dramatic, sheer cliff some 250 feet in height, this heritage coast provides several outstanding viewpoints. The long, sandy beach at Godrevy is punctuated by the lighthouse at Godrevy Island which was featured in Virginia Woolfe’s To The Lighthouse.
