Glacier Explorers, Mount Cook National Park 7999, Canterbury Region, New Zealand
Glacier Explorers has been operating boat tours on the Tasman Glacier terminal lake in the Aoraki Mount Cook National Park since 1993 and is the sole operator allowed to do so.
Between mid September and late May they offer the opportunity to access the rapidly growing Tasman Glacier terminal lake to view New Zealand’s largest glacier, and its icebergs.
Glacier Explorers is undeniably unique – the way in which it is presented to you is what makes the whole experience. By keeping groups small, a personal rapport develops between customers and guides. Guides give an in-depth interpretation of glaciation, terminal lake formation, plate tectonics and a brief coverage of local and climbing history, flora & fauna, leaving you with not just an insight into the Tasman Glacier but to the creation of New Zealand.
