Giotto’s Bell Tower, Firenze, Italy
The highest concentration of Florentine monumental sculpture in the world: statues and medieval and Renaissance reliefs in marble, bronze and silver of most artists of the time. Masterpieces that, in most cases, were made for the exterior and interior of the church structures that still stand in front of the Museum: the Baptistery of San Giovanni , the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and Giotto’s Bell Tower .
The special mission of the Museum is to present it in an appropriate way the works made for these buildings, which together constitute what is now called the “Great Cathedral Museum”.
