Gabares Norbert, Aquitaine, France

Norbert barges are replicas of traditional flat-bottomed boats. They refer to the past port of La Roque-Gageac and more widely to the fluvial trade of the region.

From the seventeenth to the nineteenth century, barges carry all kinds of goods, including wood. This is the case for example oak used for the manufacture of barrels.
