Frankie’s
Going out for breakfast has become such a trend in Kuwait over the past decade that almost every corner has a restaurant serving the morning meal – but only a few are worth waking up early on a weekend for. Early Bird, Madison & Heig and Table Otto are all nice, but Frankie’s wins my vote for an all-round experience. Glass walls overlook Kuwait City’s bustling streets, there’s mellow French jazz playing, the diverse menu has well-crafted and -presented dishes, and the fresh, aromatic coffee is the best way to start the day. Try the sabich breakfast sandwich made with eggs, eggplant, pickled cabbage and tahini sauce. The chef, Basmah Marouf, is a Johnson & Wales culinary school graduate and returned from a stint in Miami with a bunch of unique recipes that make for a memorable breakfast experience.
