Fort Casso, Rohrbach-lès-Bitche, Lorraine, France
This fort of the Maginot line is restored in the greatest concern for authenticity to touch the finger everyday life of soldiers from 1939 to 1940: kitchens, factory, high voltage cell, rooms of soldiers, officers and NCOs … but also a combat block, a firing chamber, a machine gun turret and the only eclipse turret still in working order in France.
During two hours, the visitor discovers a true small town buried under 25 meters of limestone with all the equipments necessary for the life of the 173 men of the work. Outside, a pedestrian path connecting the entry blocks and fights, invites to appreciate the calm and the beauty of the landscapes.
