Folk Art Museum, Yerevan, Armenia 

The Museum of Folk Art in Armenia, named after Hovhannes Sharambeyan, is a unique cultural and art center in Yerevan. Sharambeyan is one of the great Armenian painters who played a great role in preserving and developing the folk art of Armenia. The museum’s collection was gathered still from 1930 and finally, it was opened in 1978.

There are represented the collections of the Armenian decorative and applied art, which includes nearly 12,000 exhibits, where you can see wood, metal and stone carving, articles of ceramics, rugs, carpets, and paintings from Armenia. Each exhibit presents the national and cultural values of our nation and the development of Armenian art.

The museum is located at the beginning of the Abovyan Street, near the statue of Khachatur Abovyan. Armenian famous painters like Martiros  Saryan, Hakob Kojoyan, and Gabriel Gyurjyan participated in the enrichment of the collection.
