Financial District

Sydney’s Financial District, also known as the Central Business District (CBD), is the economic heart of the city, located in the northern part of the city between Circular Quay and Town Hall. It encompasses key areas like Martin Place, George Street, Pitt Street, and Macquarie Street, and stretches from Barangaroo in the west to Hyde Park in the east.

The district is home to Australia’s leading financial institutions, including the Reserve Bank of Australia, Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), major commercial banks, and multinational corporations. Martin Place serves as the central hub of the district, lined with important government buildings, financial institutions, and corporate headquarters. This area also features historical landmarks like the General Post Office (GPO) and modern skyscrapers, making it a mix of old-world charm and contemporary business architecture.

Circular Quay, at the northern tip, provides stunning views of Sydney Harbour and is the gateway to the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, offering a scenic contrast to the district’s high-energy business environment.
