Fatima Jinnah Park

Fatima Jinnah Park

Fatima Jinnah Park, also known as Capital Park or F-9 Park, is a public recreational park that spans the whole of Sector F-9 of Islamabad, Pakistan. It is named after Mādar-e Millat Fatima Jinnah, the younger sister of the founder of Pakistan Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Fatima Jinnah Park, widely known as F-9 Park, is one of Islamabad’s largest and most serene urban green spaces, sprawling across 304 hectares in the heart of the capital. Named in honor of Madar-e-Millat Fatima Jinnah, the younger sister of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the park serves as a peaceful tribute to her legacy while offering residents and visitors a refreshing escape from the city’s bustle. Its vast expanse is thoughtfully divided into landscaped gardens, wooded areas, sports facilities, and open lawns, making it a perfect blend of natural beauty and recreational opportunity that reflects Islamabad’s reputation as one of the greenest capitals in the world.

The park comes alive with vibrant colors and activity throughout the year, especially during spring when cherry blossoms and seasonal flowers create a breathtaking canopy of pink and white. Families spread picnics on the soft grass, children race across playgrounds, and joggers follow the well-maintained 10-kilometer cycling and walking tracks that wind through shady trees and gentle slopes. The beautifully designed rose garden, fountains, and sculpted hedges add an elegant charm, while the dedicated sports zones with cricket grounds, football fields, and basketball courts attract athletes and fitness enthusiasts from dawn till dusk, giving the park a cheerful, energetic atmosphere.

As the sun sets behind the distant Margalla Hills, Fatima Jinnah Park transforms into a tranquil haven bathed in golden light, where the cool evening breeze carries the scent of pine and earth. Couples stroll hand in hand along quiet paths, friends gather for casual barbecues, and the silhouette of the city fades into the background. This magnificent green lung not only preserves a precious piece of nature within the planned city but also stands as a living memorial to Fatima Jinnah’s grace and strength, inviting everyone who visits to pause, breathe deeply, and feel connected to both history and the timeless beauty of Pakistan’s capital.
