Europa building

The Europa building is the seat of the European Council and Council of the European Union, located on the Rue de la Loi/Wetstraat in the European Quarter of Brussels, Belgium. Its defining feature is the multi-storey “lantern-shaped” construct holding the main meeting rooms; a representation of which has been adopted by both the European Council and Council of the EU as their official emblems.

he Europa building was designed by Philippe Samyn and partners architects and engineers, lead and design partner, Studio Valle Progettazioni, architects, Buro Happold, engineers. The Belgian authorities, through the Belgian Buildings Agency, have assumed the role of prime contractor for the building work. Timeline 16/01/2017

The Europa building is at the centre of the EU district in Brussels and at the centre of the EU’s decision-making. This is where Europe’s presidents, prime ministers and ministers meet to discuss and decide the issues that are essential to the European Union’s future. From the inside the lantern is a place of activity and work.
