Located in the heart of the natural reserve of the Gorges de l’Ardèche, the cave of Saint Marcel d’Ardèche is a gem of the underground world. Over millions of years, water has carved the rock to form an exceptionnal system, by its depth and spread, as well as its variety of landscapes, stalactites, mineral cascades and crystals.
Despite being an ancient underground river, caving can be practised safely all-year round in St-Marcel d’Ardèche, as the cave is no longer subject to flooding, since a few million years.
