The Benedictine monastery of Engelberg has shaped the history of the beautiful mountain valley since its foundation in 1120.
The present activities of the monks largely corresponded to the needs of the place. Educational work at the priestly school, pastoral care in the parish, crafts and services, cultural and landscape care are areas in which the monks and the staff of the monastery are engaged.
