The spectacular Cathedral of Modena is one of the major monuments of Roman culture in Europe, recognized in 1997 by UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with its Ghirlandina tower and the adjacent Piazza Grande. The Cathedral was founded on 9 June 1099.
