The Dubai World Trade Centre(DWTC) is a business complex built in 1978-79 by H.H. Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum. It is located along Sheikh Zayed Road at the Trade Centre Roundabout. Dubai first skyscraper was a curious sight when it opened in 1979 surrounded by miles of empty desert. It was the tallest building in Dubai & in whole of UAE. It was the first skyscraper along Sheikh Zayed Road. However it rapidly filled up and has gone on to become a famous local landmark. Dubai World Trade Centre is also featured on the AED100 banknote.
