Dr. Jim Chalmers is an Australian politician serving as the Treasurer of Australia since May 2022 under Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. He is a member of the Australian Labor Party and represents the division of Rankin in Queensland. Born on March 2, 1978, in Brisbane, Chalmers has a strong background in economics and political science, having earned his PhD in political science and international relations from the Australian National University.
Before his election to Parliament in 2013, Dr. Chalmers worked in various roles, including as Chief of Staff to former Deputy Prime Minister and Treasurer Wayne Swan. His political career has been marked by his commitment to progressive economic policies and social justice issues. Chalmers is also known for his authorship of books and opinion pieces focused on the future of Australia’s economy and political landscape
