Door of No Return, Benin 

It was the last place slaves walked through before embarking a slave ship. And they knew at that point that they wouldn’t be able to ever see their loved ones and were forced to leave their homeland.

Benin was involved in the slave trade for over 200 years and the last trade took place in the mid 19th century.Since 2000, the construction of two new similar monuments on the beach has influenced the reception of the Door of No Return.
