Honorable John Ratcliffe 

John Ratcliffe, a distinguished American lawyer and public servant, served as the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) under the Trump administration from 2020 to 2021. His leadership was marked by his unwavering commitment to national security and his advocacy for transparency and accountability within the intelligence community.

Born on October 20, 1965, in Mount Prospect, Illinois, Ratcliffe’s journey to the pinnacle of national security began with a strong academic foundation. He graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame in 1987, earning a degree in Government and International Studies. He later obtained his Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 1989, demonstrating an early commitment to the principles of justice and service.

Ratcliffe’s career was defined by his relentless pursuit of integrity and excellence. As a U.S. Attorney in Texas, he prosecuted complex cases, including terrorism and immigration violations, showcasing his dedication to the rule of law. In 2014, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, where he represented Texas’s 4th Congressional District. During his tenure, Ratcliffe emerged as a leading voice on cybersecurity, intelligence reform, and national defense.

In May 2020, Ratcliffe was appointed as the Director of National Intelligence, becoming the principal advisor to the President on intelligence matters. In this role, he championed efforts to declassify key information, ensuring that the American public had greater insight into the workings of their government. Ratcliffe’s tenure underscored his belief that transparency strengthens democracy.

The role of the Director of the CIA (D/CIA) is to manage the Agency’s intelligence collection, analysis, covert action, counterintelligence, and liaison relationships with foreign services.
