Diplomatic Quarter, Riyadh
The Diplomatic Quarter was designed as a central complex comprising a Friday Mosque and a complex for government facilities, surrounded by full range of services including Souqs (markets) and a medical center. The area is flanked by two main boulevards that connect the site at either end to freeway system via Salboukh and Makkah highways.
Al Safarat, or the Diplomatic Quarter, is filled with embassies and residential compounds, plus dining options from fast-food chains to upscale European and Middle Eastern restaurants. A walking trail around the area passes parks such as grassy Tuwaiq Garden and offers views of Wadi Hanifah valley. The King Salman Science Oasis explores topics like robotics and biotechnology with hands-on displays.
