Mr. Gabriele Visentin
Mr. Gabriele Visentin is the European Union’s Special Envoy for the Indo-Pacific, a position he has held since September 2021. His career within the European External Action Service (EEAS) began in 2011, where he took on roles such as Head of the Parliamentary Affairs Division. Prior to this, he worked with the European Commission, representing it in the civilian crisis management committee (CivCom). He also served as Head of Cabinet for the final president of the European Community for Steel and Coal (ECSC). Additionally, Mr. Visentin holds a degree in law with a specialization in international and community law.
As Special Envoy, Mr. Visentin plays a crucial role in shaping and implementing the EU’s strategy in the Indo-Pacific region. His work focuses on fostering cooperation in areas like peace, security, and sustainable development across the Indo-Pacific, as well as managing complex relationships with key global players such as China and Japan.
