Cultural Complex
The Convention Centre seeks one poetic and symbolic idea to capture both the essence of the site located alongside a waterfowl sanctuary and the sense of national freedom at the moment of its Golden Jubilee. The unifying metaphor is “Birds-in-Flight” — a flock of birds hovering at the water’s edge.
Located in the scenic Shakarparian area, the unfinished Islamabad Cultural Complex was destined to symbolise the rich cultural heritage of the country. However, after years of stalled development, the only impressively designed set of buildings in the capital has fallen into ruin.
