Cubus kunsthalle

Creativity and culture characterize a city and give it a special image. The cubus kunsthalle presents different positions in contemporary art without committing a priori to an artistic direction. It shows works by primarily young artists who offer new artistic approaches. The cubus kunsthalle, a 2-minute walk from Duisburg main station, shows that the concept of private-public partnership was a correct and important step towards preserving the former Lower Rhine Museum and using it culturally. Not only exhibitions with contemporary artists but also concerts under the title cubus culture club contribute to the consistent revitalization of the inner-city Kentpark. An important area is the work with children and young people.

The hands-on exhibition, which takes place once a year, attracts numerous school classes from all over the region to the art gallery and conveys cultural content in a lively and playful way. 20 years ago, the cubus kunsthalle moved after seven years of existence – from the Duissern district of Duisburg to the city center. The private gallery is developing into an initiative that, through a non-profit support association, is revitalizing the building of the former Lower Rhine Museum of the city of Duisburg and giving it a cultural purpose. The Kunsthalle is financed through sponsorships and by subletting the Café Museum. Donations that the association acquires to promote art and culture also contribute to the cross-financing of the ambitious exhibition program. In addition to Duisburg artists, the art gallery shows international artists and presents a collection once a year, largely with free admission.
