Craft Market, Cape Point, Bakau, Gambia

The Bakau Craft Market was established in 1971 at Cape Point by the women of the area who used to offer for sale crafted African style items such as beads, masks etc. In 1982 it was moved opposite to the African Village Hotel side entrance. In 1999 it came to its final location.

There are almost 50 spacious stalls which can allow for 10 visitors. You will find the locals selling a large variety of tourist souvenirs such as sand paintings, table cloths, masks, drums, tie dye curtains and sheets, batiks and jewellery from gold, silver or other materials.
