Couvent des Jacobins, Toulouse, Midi-Pyrenees, France

It is the place of life of a religious community where everything is organized around the cloister: refectory, chapter house and funerary chapel decorated with paintings. It is a place of pilgrimage on the relics of St. Thomas Aquinas.

History, art, faith, constitute the three poles which attract each year nearly 300 000 visitors.

Built in just a century, between 1230 and 1350, the convent of the Jacobins will be the subject of some enlargements thereafter. Its architecture responds above all to the rules of poverty and the missions of preaching enacted by Dominic, the founder of the Order of Preachers.
