Known affectionately as just “Flamengo,” this club is arguably the most popular and widely supported team in all of Brazil. Like Fluminense, they are a member-owned club that originated as a rowing team. They play their home games at the Maracanã, sharing the iconic stadium with Fluminense. Flamengo has a massive list of trophies, including seven Brazilian national championships and three Copa Libertadores titles. They are also one of the few Brazilian clubs to have a FIFA Intercontinental Cup victory, which they won in 1981. Their rivalry with Fluminense, known as the “Fla-Flu,” is one of the most famous derbies in world football.
