Rocamadour is located in the Dordogne Valley : The sacred city is clinging to the cliff in a superposition of houses and chapels. From the castle that crowns this daring construction stands out a sheer drop of some 150 meters at the bottom of which winds the stream Alzou. On the way to Santiago de Compostela, the Basilica of Saint-Sauveur and the crypt Saint-Amadour , classified as World Heritage by UNESCO, are offered to visitors once climbed the 216 steps of the pilgrim’s staircase . The miraculous chapel, one of the 7 other chapels built in the hollow of the rock, houses its jewel, the Black Virgin venerated for over a millennium.

At 20 minutes, you can discover the Padirac Chasm , world famous, a Mecca of caving. After having plunged into a chasm 70 meters deep (open circular cavity), the visit begins with a boat trip on an underground river: unforgettable!

All around Rocamadour extends the Regional Natural Park of the Quercy, a unique natural environment where marry plateau rocky and green valleys, gorges , springs and green emerald resurgences , small oaks wood and dolmens, or old mills and small bridges. A few steps away, the Dordogne Valley.
