As any colonial town, Belém has its magnificent “Old City” with the amazing constructions that Portuguese settlers and religious orders ornated their main post at the very entry of the Amazon River.
All day tours will included visits to its major attractions, as the cathedral (“Catedral da Sé”), the museum “Igreja e Convento de Santo Alexandre – Museu de Arte Sacra”, the fort (“Forte do Presépio”), the market “Mercado de Ver-o-Peso” and so on. A sightseeing not to be missed, but never to be done alone (principally if you don’t speak Portuguese). Dress comfortably (as Belém is always warm), leave passports, jewelry and expensive cell phones at your hotel and appreciate a day at the glorious colonial “Cidade Velha” of Belém! Enjoy!
