Church of Saint Peter, Portovenere SP, Italy

Built on a rocky spur at the end of the country from the open sea, the church was founded on the ancient remains of a pagan temple dedicated to the goddess Venus Ericina. The oldest part, to the right of it is still identifiable today, thanks to the presence of the circular pavement made from thin sheets of marble stones dating back to 1256 to 1277.
