Chita Theatre, Chita, Zabaykalsky Krai, Russia

July 20, 1976 in Chita, the opening of a new large-format cinema “Udokan” with the capacity of the auditorium 808 seats was held. From the first days the cinema became a favorite resting place for Chitin people. Over the years, viewers have visited our cinema more than 27 million times.

In 2000 the cinema “Udokan” was equipped with the most modern equipment. Cinema projectors “MEO 5X” are installed and the screen is replaced. When the company “Dolby” entered the cinematographic business, a new era in the technology of scoring of films began.
The sound system “Dolby Digital”, installed in the cinema “Udokan” in June 2001, consisted of electronic equipment manufactured using the latest technologies in the US, UK, Spain. The digital processor CP 650 is significantly evolved to maximize the expressiveness of the sound, which creates an amazing presence effect.

On July, 5th, 2005 the full reconstruction of an auditorium has been carried out. For the repair of the floor was used the most modern material – a homogeneous coating of turquoise color. To maximize the convenience and comfort of the spectators, up to 120cm, the distance between rows was increased and new DL 2000 chairs were installed. This was the latest and improved model for modern cinemas.
AND WE HAVE EVERYTHING WE WELL, BUT …

On May 27, 2007, the attackers set fire to the Udokan cinema . As a result, the scene, screen, part of the chairs of the auditorium were destroyed by fire. The fire did not spare the expensive sound and film equipment. Thanks to the hot support of the citizens, the mayor of the city of Anatoly Mikhalev, and also the cinema community, the collective of the cinema started work on restoring everyone’s beloved “Udokan”.
Workers of the cinema did everything possible to open the “Udokan” as soon as possible. And already on August 3, 2007 the cinema resumed its work. New modern equipment was purchased. Sound system DOLBY CP 650 D, film projectors MEO5 XB1e 35 mm, a new perforated screen produced in France. The auditorium of the cinema after the repair has become more perfect. The walls of the hall are now sheathed with the modern Ecophon material specially created for the cinemas. These sound-absorbing wall panels help avoid reflection of sound, creating an improved acoustic environment.
We are very grateful for the help and support of the Chita people, the spectators, who did not pass the tickets and took part in a charity campaign to raise funds for the restoration of our cinema.

In 2009, in Udokan, new equipment was installed to show films in 3D. Digital cinema projector, working on technology of Dolby 3D Digital Cinema, provided a rich, clear and clear three-dimensional image with realistic colors for all spectator places. Thanks to this technology, all spectators could enjoy magnificent three-dimensional films. For the duration of the screenings, the audience was given Dolby 3D glasses – strong, light and environmentally friendly. The cinema used both standard and children’s glasses.

But, progress does not stand still! In 2013, it was decided to replace 3D equipment with a more modern one – Master Image. A new screen with metallized silver coating Spectral 240 3D is installed. New glasses have become lighter and more comfortable than before. Much greater light output of 3D-display equipment provides the best and brightest picture quality.

In 2011, the interior of the cinema completely changed its appearance. Previously, the upper and lower foyer of the cinema was decorated with wood. The main decoration was the carved paintings of Transbaikalian wood artists Ryzhov and Kalashnikov. It was decided to leave these pictures for posterity. They found their place and harmoniously blended into the modern interior. The project, a new design created by a very talented designer of our city Albitova Irina.
