Central Square is also known as the Square for fighters of Soviet Power. The centerpiece of the square is the huge sculpture of a red army soldier holding a banner overhead with his right hand and a military trumpet in the other. The sculpture is meant to signify the victory of the red army forces during the civil war. The years of the civil war (1917 – 1923) are also prominently displayed on the column supporting the statue.
There are two “group” sculptures on either side of the main sculpture. The group sculpture to the right of the central statue, consists of three (3) persons – sailor, soldier and worker. They are standing with the double headed eagle insignia at their feet. The double headed eagle was the royal insignia, and was used by the “white” army as their symbol.
