Caverne du Dragon, Oulches-la-Vallée-Foulon, Picardy, France

Former quarry located in the heart of the “Chemin des Dames”, the Caverne du Dragon was transformed from 1915 by the German units into a real underground barracks including military posts and places of life. Site of memory tourism visited since the 1920s, the Dragon Cave was transformed into a museum in 1969 by the French Souvenir.

Managed since 1995 by the Department of Aisne, it is redeveloped since 1999 in a new building located above the Valley of the Aisne. The Dragon Cave evokes today, with modern scenographic equipment, the history of this prestigious place and the daily life of the soldiers during the Great War.
