Cathedral of Our Lady of Glory, Maringá, State of Paraná, Brazil 

Parana – The Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of Glory of the city of Maringá in Brazil, a modern religious structure built in 1972, is the tallest church building in South America and a landmark of this city of 284 000 people.

Catedral Metropolitana Basílica Nossa Senhora da Glória is one of the 54 minor catholic basilicas of Brazil. Basilica is a title of honour given to certain churches because of their antiquity, dignity status or historical importance.

There are only 4 major basilicas, all of them in Rome including St. Peter’s of the Vatican, and more than 1580 minor basilicas around the world. Of these, 21 are in Canada, one of which is Saint Paul’s Basilica in Corktown, Toronto.
