The history of the beautful and ancient Gradara Castle owes his fortune to an enviable position which makes it, since ancient times, a crossroads of traffic, traid and people. Construction started in the 11th Centuary at the turn of the Marche and Romagna. it rises on a hill overlooking the Adriatic Sea on one side and a beautiful valley on the other. During the Middle Ages the fortress was one of the main theaters of clashes between the Papacy and Casate Marche and Romagna.
