Bunce Island, UNESCO, Sierra Leone

Bunce Island is an island in the Sierra Leone River. This tiny island has the ruins of a British fort used in the transport of slaves to North America. It is situated in Freetown Harbor, the estuary of the Rokel River and Port Loko Creek, about 20 miles upriver from Sierra Leone’s capital city Freetown.
