Buddhist Caves of Khapra Kodiya, Gujarat, India

Junagadh Buddhist Cave Groups are located in Junagadh district of the Indian state of Gujarat. The so-called “Buddhist Caves” are not actually caves, but three separate sites of rooms carved out of stone to be used as monks’ quarters.

Close to the Jama Masjid (which is inside the Uperkot Fort) are 2nd century AD Buddhist caves, an eerie three-storey carved complex – the main hall contains pillars with weathered carvings.
