Boumba Bek National Park, UNESCO, Cameroon
Boumba Bek and Nki are two contiguous national parks created by decrees of the Prime Minister of 6 October 2005. They cover an area of 547,617 ha, respectively 309,362 ha for Nki and 238,255 ha for Boumba Bek. Associated, these national parks constitute the largest protected area of Cameroon.
The climate of the region is of the equatorial type characterized by an alternation of 4 seasons, including two rainy seasons and two dry seasons. The rainfall is about 1,500 mm / year. Monthly average temperatures range from 23.1 ° C to 25 ° C, with an annual average of 24 ° C.
The relative humidity of the air varies from 60 to 90%. It is recognized that these parks are located on the northwestern side of the Congolese basin, characterized by typical Precambrian to Cambrian metamorphic formations of the Lower Dja series. These metamorphic formations consist mainly of tillites, quartzites, shales, limestones and dolerites.
