After the end of the Great Patriotic War, it was recognized necessary to create in the system of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR a network of botanical gardens throughout the country. At this time the creation of the Main Botanical Garden (GBS) in Moscow, the Central Siberian Botanical Garden (CSBM) in Novosibirsk was started. At the same time, the Far Eastern Base of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and the local authorities of Primorsky Krai initiated the creation of an academic botanical garden in Vladivostok, which was supported in April 1946 by the Bureau of the Council of Branches and Bases of the USSR Academy of Sciences. In the suburbs of Vladivostok (“19th km”) by the leading Far Eastern foresters Professor BP. Kolesnikov and Professor N.E. Kabanov was selected plot of 176 hectares (modern territory – 170 hectares) with well-preserved black-birch-broad-leaved and deciduous forests. It was he who was fixed in 1948.

In 1949, the Botanical Garden was headed by MA Skripka (she is also the only scientific worker), in 1950 she was officially appointed to the post. In 1951, the staff was 6 people, but from this year the research topic “Introduction to the culture of local and foreign useful plants in the conditions of southern Primorye” was developed, which includes three sections.
