Boston Latin School and Benjamin Franklin Statue
The site of the Boston Latin School is located directly behind King’s Chapel at 45 School Street. Established in 1635 by the Puritans who settled the area, this was the first public school in America. It was attended by Benjamin Franklin, John Hancock, Samuel Adams, and Charles Bulfinch, all of who were born in or around Boston. The site is marked with a decorative brick and tile memorial on the sidewalk and a statue of Franklin.
