Boissellerie Museum, Bois-d’Amont, Franche-Comte, France  

Surrounded by the forest of Risoux and that of Noirmont, the Musée de la Boissellerie (Museum of Wood Work) is located on two banks of the Sphere, in the heart of the Wood village of Upstream.

Installed in an old restored sawmill, the Musée de la Boissellerie invites its visitors to discover the tools, the machines and the know-how of the craftsmen who know how to exploit all qualities of the spruce and to transform it into various products .

From the raw material the spruce, four techniques of manufacture (sawing, drilling, cutting, splitting) and know-how artisanal are necessary to transform wood.

Cabinets of clock, boxes, blocks perforated, skis, prams, frames constitute a sample of the variety of the products manufactured since 1536 by the woodwork men.

During your visit, you will have the opportunity to see the steam machine working, as well as the hydraulic turbine, which powers an alternative kind of saw.
