Blavand beach, Southern Denmark, Denmark

Blåvand Strand – close to Blåvandshuk Lighthouse. Blaavand is widely known for its children friendly sandy beaches. There are no cars on the beach, and the waves of the North Sea slowly and silently lap against the shore of snow-white sand. Here is no strong North Sea current, and the shallow water makes the area ideal for children’s play. They kan touch the bottom far out in the calm water – a very unique quality at the North Sea.

The special conditions on the South Beach naturally have their cause – namely Horns Reef that reaches about 40 km into the North Sea, thereby almost forming a lagoon.

Blaavand North Beach

On Blaavand North Beach you have the chance to feel isolated and escape from everything else than yourself and the surrounding nature. Here are vast sand dunes as far as the eye can see. The dunes form warm hollows where you will find shelter from the wind.

Blaavand North Beach and Horns Reef are also known as some of the best places to find beautiful amber – the gold of the North Sea.
