Bern Bridge, Fribourg, Switzerland

BUILT IN 1250, A CENTURY AFTER THE FOUNDING OF THE CITY, THIS IS ONE OF THE OLDEST IN SWITZERLAND. OVER THE CENTURIES, IT HAS BEEN RENOVATED REGULARLY, REMAINING NOWADAYS THE LAST COVERED WOODEN BRIDGE IN FRIBOURG.

Nowadays its baroque style is obvious; however it steps right out of the Late Gothic Era. Its 17th-century central pillar is made of stone while the southern tuff arch, of the same period, is now filled with dirt.
